Programme Overview

Develop a versatile maintenance workforce with the practical skills, safe working practices and professional judgement needed to maintain buildings and respond to everyday repairs.

Apprentices develop occupational knowledge, skills and behaviours through planned training and meaningful workplace experience. The employer and Skillcert agree an individual plan after reviewing the role, prior learning and eligibility.

For employers, the programme provides a structured route to build capability, support consistent standards and develop existing or new staff.

Blended learning with practical workplace support

Training that combines structured learning with opportunities to develop and apply practical maintenance skills at work.

Blended delivery

Planned learning activities are combined with workplace experience and employer involvement, tailored to the apprentice's starting point and training plan.

Face-to-face workplace visits

Skillcert carries out face-to-face workplace visits every two months to support practical development, review progress and connect learning to the apprentice's duties.

Employer collaboration

We work with employers to plan suitable learning opportunities and support progress towards occupational competence and apprenticeship completion.

Apprenticeship training time and employer responsibilities are agreed individually and must meet applicable requirements.
